Cafe Review: Luon Luon (루온루온) Vietnamese Cafe in Seoul

One bright summer morning last year, my friends and I were walking around Mapo-gu/Hongdae looking for a cheap coffee place.

We found Cà Phê Luôn Luôn, a little Vietnamese cafe tucked into one of the side streets near our airbnb.

  • Price: 3,000 for espresso; 5.5-6,000 won for lattes; 6-7,000 won for desserts

  • Hours: Every day 9am-11:30am brunch; 12:00pm-11:00pm coffee and beer

As always, let’s rate it. Bolded means recommended. This cafe is best for:

Good brew | Tea | Socializing | Studying | Aesthetics | Desserts | Alcohol | Food |

The place is covered in yellow paint and decor from Vietnam, ranging from hats to Vietnam War-era posters. On warm days they open the street-level shutters. You can sit at a normal table or a booth, but there’s also a cushioned staircase on the right side under the windows.

This place can get pretty busy on an afternoon, but if it’s warm, there’s also seating outside.

I don’t have many pictures of this place, but this is how the outside looks

If you’re wanting Vietnamese treats in Seoul, this place is it. I love LOVE egg coffee and egg espresso, and this place has got it. Also, consider their avocado coffee (smoothie version available) and coconut coffee.

They’ve also got your standard coffee and espresso options, and of course, it’s up to Seoullite standards, with affogato, smoothies, and fruity ades.

You should also try Vietnamese-imported beer. I haven’t, but their insta videos of it looks good. Egg beer? I am…intrigued.

Naver lists them as having a brunch hour, but their menu doesn’t have much in the way of food, except for little coconut flavored desserts and tiramisu. You can buy imported foods like dried fruit at the front.

I hope you check this place out if you’re in Seoul!
