Daejeon Highlights: Ranch Pub

Y’all know I love a good craft beer.

I’ve written about Gung-dong before—it’s the area right next to KAIST, and full of great student-friendly fast food joints and pubs. The best, in my humble Daejeonite opinion, is Ranch Pub.

The first time I went must’ve been when my friend Dom texted me inviting me there—before we really knew each other. Thus began a long tradition of drinking beers late into the night and complaining about our lives.

Started by a Frenchman, Ranch Pub is a foreigner bar specializing in craft beers and pub foods.

There’s also a brewery down by Konyang Hospital! It’s an open air site, and they sometimes sell Texas-style BBQ. I never got the chance—you gotta watch their insta carefully.

Ranch Pub just has this vibe. It’s great for sitting back and relaxing with friends. It’s cozy! The beer isn’t my favorite in the world—but I def recommend their sampler. It’s cheap and the beer is still pretty dang good. They update with new seasonal and experimental craft beers every few months.

They also sell pulled pork sandwiches, pizzas and quesadillas. Most importantly, they sell french fries that aren’t sweet WITH RANCH.
